LENSTAR Introduction Videos

LENSTAR Introduction Video

The Lenstar is the original optical biometer of the entire eye. Nine measurements are taken in one scan and are delivered precisely and accurately. The results are ready in less than 30 seconds.

Keratometry

The Keratometry measurement exemplifies the true superiority of the LENSTAR system by providing expanded Keratometry information.  LENSTAR utilizes 32 measurement points placed on two concentric rings of 16 points each at 1.65mm and 2.3mm.

Central Corneal Thickness CCT

Central Corneal Thickness or CCT is one of the four new measurements taken with the LENSTAR system.  Measuring CCT along with the other eight measurements take less than 30 seconds wich will help increase patient flow.

Pupillometry

Pupillometry is an important addition to your data and is one of the four new measurements of the LENSTAR system.  Pupillometry is measured instantly which helps minimize time consumption.  The video goes on to discuss how the measurements are taken with the LENSTAR system.

White to White

The White to White measurement is gathered automatically form optical biometry.  White to White is integral when implanting sulcus fixated ICLs.  LENSTAR reduces "chair-time" by obtaining the white to white measurement instantly with the other measurements.

Lens Thickness

This lesson focuses primarly on Lens Thickness. Lens thickness is the most important of the four measurements of the Lenstar system. The Lenstar measures lens thickness optically and with improved precision of its ACD measurement are the key differences of earlier optical biometers.

Eccentricity

Eccentricity of the visual axis is also known as Angle Kappa.  It refers to the angle of the center of the pupil and the visual axis.  The Eccentricity of the visual axis is accessed with respect to the white to white and the pupil center.

Axial Length

Axial Length is a key measurement with significant improvements with the LENSTAR system. It is a major component in two important formulas used in the LENSTAR measurements so it has to be precise. Axial length is always measured on the central visual axis.

Anterior Chamber Depth

Previous optical biometers used slit illumination technology and is acceptable for use in measuring normal depth eyes. Measurement errors are common for pseudophakic patients. LENSTAR offers repeatable precision compared to slit lamp technology
