Information Regarding Haag Streit Tonometer Prisms

A known reason for failing tonometer prisms is the use of disinfectants not approved by Haag-Streit, such as e.g. alcohol wipes. These failings, primarily cracks in the prism, may cause leaking of disinfectant while in use.

In order to prevent their occurrence, it is mandatory to use disinfectants according to instructions published by Haag-Streit. Information regarding disinfectants and their safe use can be found in the user manual or line on the Haag-Streit web site.

To perform field tests to check tonometer prisms for cracks that might lead to leakage of the prisms Haag-Streit has established and validated a protocol and procedure.
